永春白鹤拳

Yong Chun White Crane Kung Fu

Yong Chun Bai He Quan was founded in the late 1600’s by Master Fang Qi Niang, and remains famous in China to the present day. It is still being taught, many generations later, at the style’s birthplace by Master Su Ying Han.

The original system of White Crane Kung Fu is unusual because its founder was a woman who remained undefeated in a very male-dominated martial world.

In order to achieve this, this graceful style contains many innovative methods designed to defend against persons who are physically bigger and stronger. Hence it is still ideal as a self-defence art in the modern day.

Yong Chun White Crane is one of the oldest systems of Kung Fu still in existence, and has been influential in several other martial styles which developed in this part of the world, including Okinawan Karate.

Yong Chun White Crane Classes

Classes

Ideal for beginners of all ages, you can learn Yong Chun White Crane by attending our Patterns classes or training camps.

Stances are relatively upright, and movements are quick but fluid, incorporating springy power and breathing techniques. The style is excellent for building good health and improving strength.

Bai He Quan is relatively non-acrobatic, and hence less physically challenging than many other Kung Fu styles. This means the style is suitable for almost anyone who wishes to start learning.  It is ideal for someone of smaller build, or someone who has less background in physical training.

[…] 11 years later I am still training both hard style Tiger Crane Kung Fu and White Crane Suang Yang. It has become an integral part of my life and through Dave’s teaching, I have not only developed physically but also become stronger as a person. […] Dave is a fantastic teacher as well as an extremely experienced and talented martial artist and I cannot recommend him highly enough for people of all ages.

Have been training here for years – an unusually traditional club where you will learn lots of patterns and do a lot of hard drilling (although tai chi is also available), […]. Most of the senior students have been training many years, and at least half are women so there’s no macho posturing. […] Cannot recommend strongly enough – life changing if you put a little time into it!

Ben W.

Fourteen years of training with Dave in the Tiger Crane style has been life-changing for me. The training and Dave’s instruction has given me not just physical and mental strength but has also been instrumental in helping me achieve life goals and career ambitions.
