The original system of White Crane Kung Fu dates back to the late 17th century in China. The style, Yongchun Bai He Quan (永春白鶴拳), was developed by Master Fang Qi Niang, a skilled female Kung Fu Master who managed to remain undefeated in a very male-dominated world.
Inspired by the graceful movements of the white crane, the style is both beautiful and efficient. Its innovative principles and short-range movements favour someone who might fight from a position of disadvantage in terms of size or strength, making Yongchun White Crane Kung Fu ideal for self-defence.
You can learn this effective, short-range fighting style in London at our City & Islington club or in Kent. Check the timetable below to find a class near you, and see for yourself how this traditional Kung Fu style can help you build strength and become more confident.
In our club, you can learn Yongchun White Crane Kung Fu from Head Instructor Dave Courtney Jones.
Dave began learning Yongchun White Crane from Master Su Ying Han in China in the year 2000, quickly developing a passion for one of the great treasures of Chinese culture.
Formally appointed as an Instructor of Yongchun White Crane Kung Fu by Master Su in 2017, Dave started teaching the style in London the following year, committed to spreading and preserving the White Crane style for generations to come.
Yongchun White Crane is one of the oldest systems of Kung Fu still in existence. Generation after generation, it is still being taught at the style’s birthplace, the county of Yongchun in southern Fujian province, being handed down from master to student in the traditional way.
Today, Master Su Ying Han holds the responsibility of passing on and teaching the style to an increasingly international student base.
